아이들의 성적표가 나왔다.
대체로 만족할만했다.
지난 1학기 때보다 둘다 성적이 더좋게 나왔으니 그 또한 다행스런 일이다싶었다.
우선,현진이의 성적표를 간단히 요약해보면,

현진이가 대체로 열심히 공부했다는 점에서는 모든 선생님들의 의견이 일치하는 것같다.

어제 슬픈 소식의 편지를 한 통 받았다.
현진이가 그렇게나 존경하고 좋아하던 담임 선생님 닥터 피어스가 이제 이 학교를 떠나게 되었다는 소식이었다.
개인적으로야 잘된 일이니 축하할 일이지만 우리 두 아이들에게는 청천벽력같은 엄청난 비보였다.
이 학교에서 9년을 일했는데 앞으로는 이 지역 학교의 선생님들을 가르치는 역할을 맡게되었으며, 더 같이 있어주지못해 미안하다는 말도 덧붙여져 있었다.

성진이는 당연히 그 선생님 반으로 될 것이라고 철썩같이 믿고 있었는데 이 일을 어이할꼬..
참 좋은 선생님이었는데...
현진이의 슬픔이 가장 컸다.
자주 그 교실에 놀러갈 것이라고 꿈에 부풀어 있었는데...

만남이 있으면 헤어짐도 있는 법.
더 좋은 새로운 선생님과의 만남을 기대해본다.
